AMG Thinks About Doing Diesel

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint

AFFALTERBACH, GERMANY – Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance division is again considering the idea of putting diesel power (and possibly hybrid power) in a performance vehicle, according to www.automobile.com.

Ideally, the first diesel-powered AMG cars to launch will be on the bigger vehicles like the M-Class, which tend to pair well with the easy driving and high-torque nature of diesel engines. S-Class, CL-Class, and CLS-Class cars would also arrive in the wake. With BlueTec on its side, Mercedes-Benz shouldn’t have any trouble getting its performance diesel engines to meet emissions regulations, and, with the up and coming arrival of the Audi Q7 TDI and the new BMW X5 BluePerformance, M-B could easily get the jump on the high-performance diesel SUV sector.
