Wal-Mart Adds LNG-Fueled Trucks to Calif. Fleet

BENTONVILLE, Ark. --- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has joined forces with Westport Innovations to introduce four liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled Peterbilt 386 trucks into the Wal-Mart truck fleet based at the company distribution center in Apple Valley, Calif.

IRS Issues List of Vehicles that Qualify for the Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit

WASHINGTON – Purchasers of certain large trucks, buses, or other heavy vehicles running on alternative fuel can claim a credit of up $32,000, and purchasers of certain large hybrid trucks and other heavy hybrid vehicles can claim a credit of up to $12,000 if they qualify for the Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit.

SEC Proposal to Allow Early Adoption of International Accounting Standards

On Aug. 27, the Securities and Exchange Commission raised the possibility that approximately 110 U.S. publicly traded companies will be able to use international accounting standards (IAS) next year and may require all U.S. companies to switch to IAS between 2014-2016. There is a 60-day comment period about the SEC proposal. Fleet leasing will be impacted by the adoption of IAS. It is probable that all fleet leases in the U.S. will need to be capitalized sometime in the 2011-2016 timeframe.
