PHH Arval Partners with DriverCheck for Vehicle Monitoring Service

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint

SPARKS, MD – PHH Arval, a subsidiary of PHH Corporation, has announced a strategic partnership with DriverCheck, the company that provides the “How’s My Driving?” risk management program. The program can be linked with PHH Arval’s comprehensive safety programs or offered as a stand-alone service. Companies have experienced a 10-percent or greater reduction in accidents within 12 months of implementing the program, according to DriverCheck.

Available in both the United States and Canada, “How’s My Driving?” is the latest addition to the PHH Arval suite of safety and collision management offerings. “How’s My Driving?” reinforces the ability of PHH Arval clients to keep a closer watch on their drivers’ driving behaviors while they’re on the road.

Decals are placed on each vehicle, providing a number to call if members of the public want to report a problem with a vehicle or to compliment a corporate driver. The call is taken by a live service rep in a 24/7/365 call center, and procedures following the call are customized to the client’s specific policy and include intervention by the driver’s supervisor, as well as posting the call report to a secure Web site. These reports can be included in risk assessment provisions of PHH Collision Prevention, PHH Arval’s comprehensive safety program, to add another source of information to predict and prevent vehicle collisions.

Anti-Idling Programs: A Quick Way to Reduce Fuel Spend

By Mike Antich
Reducing unnecessary idling is the simplest and easiest way for a fleet to reduce fuel costs. Besides wasting fuel, excess idling also causes unnecessary emissions, noise pollution, and needless engine wear-and-tear. The amount of unnecessary idling varies by fleet, but some fleets have recorded idling as much as 35 percent of the time.

Credit Gridlock Will Impede Sales of Used Fleet Vehicles

By Mike Antich
The bread-and-butter customers of out-of-service fleet vehicles are buyers with C and D credit, namely subprime buyers. However, funders have tightened underwriting standards to manage these higher risk borrowers. Some lenders have caps on how low a FICO score they are willing to fund, which is often above the threshold of subprime borrowers. If this continues, it will have significant long-term implications for the sale of used fleet vehicles.
