RENO, NV – Sierra Pacific Power donated seven vehicles from its utility fleet to the following nonprofit agencies: Sierra County Human Services Department (Loyalton); City of Loyalton; Safe Embrace (Reno); Douglas County Search & Rescue; Washoe County Search & Rescue; Older Americans of Lyon County; and The Nature Conservancy (Reno).

Vehicles being donated range from a 2001 Ford F-550 and a 2001 Jeep Wrangler to a 2003 Dodge Dakota, and two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and an ATV Trailer. The approximate value of donated vehicles is $65,315, according to www.rgj.com.

While no longer suitable for day-to-day use by the northern Nevada utility, the vehicles have been well maintained and are capable of many more miles of light-duty use, according to Jeff McKenzie, team leader of Sierra Pacific's Fleet Services Department.

On a limited basis, Sierra Pacific donates used utility vehicles to community service groups as they become available. Donations vary according to the needs of the nonprofit organizations.
