BEND, OR – With overall auto sales down 26.5 percent in September, total fleet and commercial sales "held their own" showing a decline of about 12 percent, according to CNW Research's retail automotive summary for October.

"The slight improvement seen in August among small business vehicle purchases turned downward [in September] with a 61-percent fall off versus a year ago."

"State government deliveries of fleet vehicles continue to shrink under a withering contraction of tax revenue and tighter budgets. This segment of the fleet business was off nearly 31 percent in September versus a year ago. While large business fleets are taking fewer cars each month, their share of total fleet/commercial has risen," reported CNW.
