THOUSAND OAKS, CA - Pam (Pence) Steele of First Choice Remarketing passed away August 3 after a valiant seven-year battle with breast cancer. She was 47.

Steele was born August 31, 1961, in San Diego, Calif., and moved with her family to Thousand Oaks in 1967. After graduating from Thousand Oaks High School, she trained to be a legal secretary and held positions in the legal and medical fields. Steele later entered the vehicle remarketing field and formed her own vehicle remarketing company, First Choice Remarketing, which she operated until her passing.

Steele was also a member of the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) and the NAFA Fleet Management Association.

Steele is survived by her son, Shane Steele; parents, Jackie and John Cushman of Thousand Oaks; younger sisters Susan Delsid (Chuck), JoAnn Cherry (Cris), and Karen Reilly (Paul); along with six nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind former husbands Virgil Steele, Barry Balcom, and Steve Pence, and many good friends.

A private burial was held August 8 at the Conejo Mountain Cemetery.
