AMSTERDAM - Werner Berger, global fleet solution manager for Nestlé Business Services SA, was named International Fleet Manager of the Year by Fleet Europe magazine during an awards ceremony held Nov. 19 in Amsterdam.

Runners-up for the award were Frits Wondergem, global category manager fleet of BP International Ltd. and Michael Zammit, European category manager at Astellas Pharma Europe Ltd.

Fleet Europe presented the first prize of its International Fleet Green Award to Lutz Hansen, lead buyer fleet management of Bayer. Second prize was won by Berger of Nestlé, who was unaware he would later be named International Fleet Manager of the Year.

Fleet Europe magazine also presented its Sustainable Awards, recognizing companies that have successfully implemented a green, safety, and/or mobility project for their fleet. Recognized for the first time was a company that successfully implemented a mobility project for its fleet. Giovanni Tortorici of Barilla won the award.

Fleet Europe's Fleet Safety Award was presented to Wondergem of BP International (shown right, holding award), who was second place runner-up for International Fleet Manager of the Year award.

Christy Coyte, 2009 Automotive Fleet Professional Fleet Manager of the Year, was a presenter at the Amsterdam event.
