A former automotive analyst and Wall Street investment banker has taken the role of group vice president of global stretegy for Ford Motor Co.

John Casesa will take on the challenge of finding new product opportunities and working on existing business strategies. He will report to CEO Mark Fields. He begins work on March 1.

Casesa's former positions include senior managing director at Guggenheim Partners, managing director and global coordinator of automotive research for Merrill Lynch, and product planning analyst for General Motors.

"John knows business and the auto industry inside and out," Fields said. "His deep experience and relationships will help guide and shape our global strategies — particularly as we challenge today's business model and push to innovate to make us even stronger tomorrow."
