Jaguar Land Rover will construct a new headquarters in Mahwah, N.J., where it is now based that will allow the automaker to expand its operation and hire additional associates, the company announced.

Jaguar Land Rover will begin building the new base of operations later this year with hopes of moving in sometime in 2018. The new facility will allow the automaker to grow to 315 associates from the current 250.

The Mahwah Township Planning Board approved the plan on Sept. 20 that paves the way for Jaguar Land Rover to begin construction of the 147,000-square-foot building that will be designed by Gensler Architecture/Design, Inc.

The automaker has been based in Mahwah since 1990, when it moved into its current facility. The operation supports 377 Jaguar and Land Rover dealers.

Mahwah, which is 30 minutes from New York City, has also attracted corporations such as Maquet, Stryker, Seiko, and UPS.
