Audi plans to show a plug-in hybrid version of its A3 sedan, the A3 e-tron, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The automaker said the vehicle features a 1.4L TFSI engine and an electric motor capable of producing a combined 204 hp and 258.15 lb. ft. of torque.

This vehicle will provide glimpse into the future of Audi products and that plug-in hybrid technology will play a “deciding role” in the brand’s strategy, according to the company.

Audi said the vehicle can be driven with just the combustion engine, just the electric motor, or in hybrid mode. Top speed in electric-only mode is 80.78 mph and maximum range is 31.07 miles. Fuel economy is equivalent to 156.81 mpg U.S., according to Audi.
