At the 2013 Fleet Safety Conference, Sandra Lee, director, worldwide fleet safety for Johnson & Johnson, received the second annual Fleet Safety Award, which was sponsored by the American Automotive Leasing Association (AALA).

At a lunchtime presentation at the conference, the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety’s (NETS) Jack Hanley accepted the award on behalf of Lee, who was unable to attend the conference. Hanley said Lee expressed “surprise and gratitude for this terrific award.” AALA’s Executive Director Pam Sederholm, and Wheels Inc.’s President of Services Dan Frank, presented the award to Hanley on Lee’s behalf.

Lee is responsible for Johnson & Johnson’s SAFE Fleet and safety policies for the company’s more than 33,000 drivers across the globe. Hanley said Johnson & Johnson’s safety programs are part of its overall sustainability efforts, which include employees, family members, and the community at large in all of the company’s worldwide markets. She is also the Board Chairperson for NETS for 2012 and 2013.

In general, AALA’s Sederholm said the Fleet Safety Award program received a number of well-qualified nominees. “We were pleased with the caliber of the nominees,” she said.

The Fleet Safety Award seeks to recognize candidates who have shown leadership, innovation, and measurable results in enhancing the safety of their employees, those travelling with them, as well as everyone else who shares the road with them.

At this year's Fleet Safety Conference, nearly 300 professionals involved in fleet safety attended the event.

Last year, Modern Transportation Services received the first annual Fleet Safety Award. You can read more about Modern Transportation Services here.
