John D. Hancock

Longtime Prime Inc. trucking executive John D. Hancock was found dead Tuesday in an apparent suicide. Hancock was 51 years old.

Hancock was serving as Prime's director of driver recruiting and training. He had worked for Prime since 1986, when he joined the Springfield, Mo., company as a nighttime operations associate, reports the News-Leader.

In his nearly three-decade career with Prime, Hancock had served as sales coordinator, fleet manager, and director of driver transitioning. In his current role, he oversaw more than 5,000 drivers.

Hancock was an active advocate for the trucking industry. He spoke at various conferences and was a leader in organizations such as the Missouri Trucking Association, Missouri Chamber of Commerce, and American Trucking Association.
