The SuperCab and Regular Cab versions of the 2015 model-year Ford F-150 pickup truck have each earned a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The trucks’ new government safety scores come just one week after the 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew drew the same best-possible overall rating. As part of NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program, all three versions of the redesigned, aluminum-intensive Ford F-150 scored 5 Stars in the frontal and side crash tests and 4 Stars in the rollover assessment.

With all three versions of the Ford F-150, the 5-Star overall score applies to both 4x4 and 4x2 models.

NHTSA annually crash-tests a sample of new vehicles that are expected to have high sales volume or that have undergone a structural redesign. Interest in 2015 Ford F-150 crash test results has been particularly high because the new truck design features a body and box built of high-strength, military-grade aluminum.

MGA Research performed the crash tests in late February.
