Cadillac's U.S. brand chief has left General Motors after less than a year on the job for personal reasons, the Detroit Free Press is reporting.

Bill Peffer has resigned 10 months after he left his position as CEO of Nissan Australia. Peffer will be replaced by Kurt McNeil, head of U.S. sales operations, on an interim basis.

McNeil will take of the role of vice president of sales and service for Cadillac, a role he held in 2012.
