GMC's Yukon Denali will arrive for 2018 with a new 10-speed transmission, sculpted grille, and interior upgrades, General Motors has announced.

GMC is pairing its Hydra-Matic 10-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission with the Yukon Denali's 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8. The transmission, which was developed in a partnership with Ford, is designed for rear-wheel drive vehicles. The transmission enhances refinement, shift smoothness, responsiveness and quietude, according to GM.

The transmission offers a wider, 7.39 overall gear ratio spread and replaces an outgoing 8-speed transmission on Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali trim grades. It enables a lower numerical top gear ratio to provide greater effiency.

The SLE and SLT trims will offer the base 5.3-liter V-8 paired with a six-speed transmission. The available 6.2-liter V-8 would be paired with the eight-speed transmission.

The 2018 Yukon Denali goes on sale in the fall.
