Fleet FAQ? Data-Driven Fleet Management

Q. Just prior to the pandemic, we cycled in a number of new vehicles. How can my telematics solution help me improve our residual value?

A. Using telematics data to proactively manage vehicle safety and maintenance can help improve your residual value. Particularly if you’re operating a geographically distributed fleet, you can monitor if your drivers are adhering to fleet safety and maintenance policies designed to retain the maximum value of your vehicles

For example, in MyGeotab, fleet managers can monitor compliance to company policy through safety reports that highlight driver behavior, including:

  • Degree of corner turn.
  • Acceleration.
  • Seat-belt usage.
  • Speeding and braking habits.

By improving driver safety habits, you’ll be helping to cut down on the wear and tear of the vehicle, and, even more importantly, reducing the potential for collisions. You’ll also be able to monitor fleet efficiency and revenue generation, specifically related to uptime and downtime, through routine maintenance, repairs, pick-ups and drop-offs.

And this is just the beginning of how you can retain and improve your resale value with a telematics platform.
