Russian President Vladimir Putin has contracted with Porsche to provide designs for a new "family of vehicles" for top officials, according to a report on motoring.com/au.

"Project cortege," which is the name given to the new fleet of high-tech armored vehicles, is being fast tracked to deliver its first vehicles to Russia's leader in 2017, a year ahead of schedule, according to the report.

While no specifics about the design have been released other than concepts, the new models will be built in Russia and range from limos to SUVs to minivans. All are expected to have armor plating, bulletproof windos and several other protective measures, according to the report.
