Infiniti showed its QX50 concept vehicle at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to illustrate its vision for a next-generation mid-size crossover, the automaker announced.

Infiniti’s QX50 Concept applies the company’s 'Powerful Elegance' design, building upon the design of the 2016 QX Sport Inspiration. It offers an advanced Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine, which is a powertrain meant to adapt to both power and efficiency, as well as an alternative to diesel powertains.

The QX50 is another step towards autonomous drive support technologies for the company. Infiniti’s autonomous drive support systems aim to ensure that the driver retains control over their vehicle, while delegating certain elements of driving to the car, according to the company. The vehicle will help to monitor surroundings and potential hazards, which allow the car to react accordingly.
