Mercedes-Benz will begin selling its hydrogen-powered GLC F-Cell hybrid in the U.S. in late 2019 amid a push by automakers to introduce more zero-emissions vehicles ahead of more stringent emissions regulations, the automaker announced.
The GLC F-Cell would provide an electric range of 30 miles and a total range of 271 miles. It will be equipped with a 4.4-kilogram hydrogen fuel storage tank that's paired with a 13.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
Hydrogen and electrical power will drive an electric motor that can produce 147 kilowatts of propulsion.
The GLC F-Cell makes the equivalent of 197 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes-Benz unveiled the vehicle at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.
