Omnitracs LLC will upgrade its cloud-based fleet management platform, Omnitracs One, under a new partnership with Red Hat to accelerate the development of new capabilities enabled by technology from the open-source specialist.

The companies plan to develop "a cloud-native solution that is designed to provide Omnitracs' customers with the security capabilities, flexibility, and scalability they need," according to Omnitracs.

Through the collaboration, the Dallas-based Omnitracs will leverage technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat Ansible Tower, and expertise from Red Hat Open Innovation Labs that will allow Omnitracs to add new features to Omnitracs One.

Omnitracs will seek to simplify, unify, and amplify its customers experience with Omnitracs One, according to the company.

"When we set out to enhance Omnitracs One, we knew we needed a development partner with the expertise and innovative capabilities to up the level of reliability, scalability, performance and security of the platform, while also helping minimize development time of new and customer-desired functionalities," said Kent Norton, CTO of Omnitracs.

Red Hat is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
