Fleet FAQ? Fuel Management

Q. My organization is under mandates to cut emissions. Can a fleet card be used for EV charging?

A. Yes. In June, WEX and ChargePoint announced a merchant agreement we believe will expand electic vehicle charging to fleets throughout the U.S. Now, up to 11 million WEX Fleet cardholders can pay for charges at more than 66,000 places to charge on the ChargePoint network.

We tested and developed WEX EV FleetCharge within GSA Fleet, which is the transportation arm of the U.S. General Services Administration, with more than 200,000 vehicles under management. Because WEX and ChargePoint had been servicing GSA Fleet – WEX with fuel cards, ChargePoint with EV charging services -- we earned GSA’s trust in developing a solution that is now working for the nation’s largest public fleet. After demonstrating that scale, we rolled out the service to any fleet – public or private – that has a need to electrify parts of its fleet so they can acquire and pay for EV charges, meet emissions mandates and reduce their environmental footprints.
