Edward Oleksy Jr.

Edward Oleksy Jr., the long-time Warner Lambert global fleet director, passed away at his home in Hackettstown, N.J., on Feb. 10, 2020. He was 73.

Oleksy worked the majority of his 39-year career with Warner Lambert, which was acquired by Pfizer Corp. in 2000 for $90.2 billion in stock. Oleksy remained with Pfizer after the acquisition of Warner Lambert. He retired as the global director of fleet for Pfizer in 2009.

In 2008, Oleksy was a finalist for Automotive Fleet’s 2008 Professional Fleet Manager of the Year Award for his accomplishments at Pfizer, where he was responsible for driving strategic and operational planning processes.

Oleksy oversaw the progress of Pfizer’s strategic fleet goals, which included expanding its U.S. alternate-fuel test program, promoting the implementation of a global fleet safety program, and supporting environmentally friendly fleet programs to achieve the company goal of reducing carbon emissions by 20%. In addition, Oleksy was the co-leader of Pfizer’s vehicle safety committee.

Oleksy was a 30-year NAFA member and served as the NAFA New Jersey Chapter vice chairman and program director. Oleksy has also served on advisory board for The CEI Group and the GM Fleet and Commercial Sounding Board.

Oleksy was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Bridgeport, Conn. He served in the National Guard from 1969 to 1975.
