Trimble’s cellular-based fleet management product has received certification and approval for use on Verizon Wireless’ WIN North American wireless network. Trimble selected its CrossCheck AMPS as the first product to use the WIN system because the AMPS cellular network provides the widest coverage in North America. CrossCheck AMPS, with its IQEventEngine technology, integrates global positioning system (GPS), cellular, and computing technologies into a single mobile positioning and communications system. CrossCheck AMPS uses the standard wireless analog AMPS cellular network to send GPS data and messages from mobile units to base stations running Trimble’s FleetVision software. An optional handset allows CrossCheck AMPS to be used for voice communications as well. WIN provides data and voice service by automatically connecting Trimble’s CrossCheck AMPS to any of the nationwide WIN service sites.
