WASHINGTON – The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has put together a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) Web-based safety training program for both drivers and fleet safety managers responsible for driver training.

Fleet safety managers can also use this Web site for their driver training programs. Preventive measures that CMV drivers can take to help avoid crashes are offered. Speeding, driver fatigue, driver distraction, and following too closely are some of the topics covered.

The video clips (of 25- to 30-second duration) were recorded in a naturalistic (open roadway, non-test track) driving study conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI).

Clips also show examples of driver errors that can help commercial vehicle drivers avoid dangerous situations. Each video clip is followed by a set of questions to help encourage viewers to think about and examine the driver's behavior.
