SIOUX FALLS, SD - Company vehicles driven home by employees and parked in residential areas in Sioux Falls may be violating a city ordinance if they are classified as commercial vehicles, according to KSFY.com.

A Sioux Falls zoning ordinance defines a commercial vehicle two ways: the amount of signage on the vehicle and if it's been structurally altered to serve a commercial purpose, zoning enforcement manager Shawna Goldammer told KSFY. The amount of signage needed to qualify as a commercial vehicle is 16 square feet.

Some options for employees driving home vehicles that would fall into the "commercial vehicle" category include parking at the closest commercial parking lot and working it out with the owner of that business, or removing some of the signage on the vehicle so it doesn't violate the ordinance, Goldammer said, reported KSFY.
