COSTA MESA, CA – Hyundai has updated its Genesis luxury sedan for the 2013 model-year, from powertrain option changes to updating the sedan’s infotainment and connectivity options.

The powertrain options the automaker is offering are designed to simplify the Genesis lineup. The available choices include a 29 mpg highway 3.8L V-6 and Hyundai’s 5.0L direct-injected Tau V-8 engine, which is only available on the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec model.

Other changes include the addition of Hyundai’s Blue Link system as an option (with the Ultimate Navigation package), new navigation system features, and enhancements to SiriusXM data services.

Blue Link comes with a complimentary one-year trial period and offers features such as voice-text messaging, POI web search download, turn-by-turn navigation, smartphone remote features and monthly vehicle reporting. The driver or front-seat passenger can access Blue Link from the buttons on the rearview mirror, over the Internet, or via a smartphone. Blue Link is offered in three packages: Assurance, Essentials and Guidance (visit Hyundai’s website for more details).

The navigation system provides a “pop-up” message when pairing a phone with the system. The system’s voice-recognition software can now understands street addresses and cities when speaking in a sequential sentence. Other features include lane guidance, junction view, and points of interest. As for SiriusXM upgrades, the service now offers Sports, Stocks and Weather information.
