General Motors is recalling nearly 60,000 2010 model-year Chevrolet Cobalt cars in the U.S. because faulty routing of a sensor wire might cause the roof-mounted driver's-side air bag to malfunction during a crash. During a Senate subcommittee hearing on July 17, GM CEO Mary Barra strongly defended the company's decision to retain Michael Millikin as GM general counsel. The attorney drew sharp criticism from Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who argued GM should have fired Millikin in the wake of the Valukas report's conclusions.
