General Motors is recalling nearly 60,000 2010 model-year Chevrolet Cobalt cars in the U.S. because faulty routing of a sensor wire might cause the roof-mounted driver's-side air bag to malfunction during a crash. Barra Defends Actions of GM's Chief Counsel

During a Senate subcommittee hearing on July 17, GM CEO Mary Barra strongly defended the company's decision to retain Michael Millikin as GM general counsel. The attorney drew sharp criticism from Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who argued GM should have fired Millikin in the wake of the Valukas report's conclusions. Millikin, who was seated next to Barra at the hearing, stated he first learned of the Cobalt ignition switch defect in February of this year. Here's hearing video footage from AP. Barra Provides Update on GM's Ignition Switch Recall

General Motors CEO Mary Barra testified before a U.S. Senate subcommittee on July 17, stating "our work to fully understand and fix the mistakes that led to the ignition switch recall is well underway."
