Merchants Fleet recently announced the successful completion of its inaugural "Give With Merchants" program.

During a two-week giving period, which spanned Thanksgiving and Giving Tuesday, Merchants Fleet gifted each of its employees $150 to donate to a charity of their choice. This approach led to the company donating $100,000 to 64 diverse charities ranging from local organizations to international nonprofits.

"The Give With Merchants program is a testament to Merchants’ unwavering commitment to creating a meaningful impact in the community," said Ted Lague, director of ESG at Merchants Fleet. “In an era where corporate philanthropy has often lacked innovation, Merchants is rewriting the playbook. What makes this initiative so special, is how it equitably amplifies all voices in our company, while providing an incredible opportunity for every employee to make an impact in our shared community.”

Merchants Fleet absorbed all the "Give With Merchants" processing fees. In addition, the program's reach was extended with an extra $20,000 raised through strategic third-party matches.

“As Merchants Fleet continues to grow and evolve, the "Give With Merchants" program will remain a cornerstone of our ESG ethos of 'Doing Well, By Doing Good,” said Lague. “We look forward to continuing this tradition of giving and inspiring other organizations to follow in our footsteps.”

Merchants Fleet 2023 in Review

Merchants Fleet's recent announcement follows a busy 2023 for the company.

The company landed on Inc. magazine's third annual "Inc. 5000 Regionals: Northeast" list, ranking Merchants Fleet at No. 155. The list is a ranking of the fastest-growing Northeast private companies, based in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

There were also a couple of management announcements last year.

In June, Merchants Fleet announced the hire of Kirk Hoffman as the company’s new senior vice president and chief financial officer. Additionally, it announced on Sept. 26 the hire of Nick Hafto as regional sales manager for the Greater Indianapolis Area.

Merchants Fleet partnered with WEX in September to deploy advanced fuel card technology solutions to fleet clients throughout North America and also launched ClearCharge, an offering that simplifies electric vehicle (EV)  charging and infrastructure solutions for fleets of any size across the nation.

ClearCharge enables commercial fleets to plan, develop, and implement Level 2 and 3  charging  to meet the evolving needs of their business.
