JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Sales of the Jeep Liberty CRD diesel, which comes pre-filled with 5-percent biodiesel (B-5), are about to surpass the 10,000 mark. When Chrysler Group first launched the diesel model in 2005, they expected to sell half that amount. Each vehicle is filled with biodiesel at the Toledo, Ohio, factory. The fuel is supplied by refiner Peter Cremer North America biodiesel refinery in Cincinnati. DaimlerChrysler announced the news at an event that took place in celebration of Ohio Agriculture Day, which in part celebrated the promise of biofuels. Earlier this year, DaimlerChrysler also decided to approve the use of B-20 in its Dodge Ram pickup trucks for government, military, and commercial fleet customers effective with the 2007-model year, according to the report.
