Volvo has begun production of its 2017 S90 flagship sedan and V90 wagon at its Torslanda plant in Sweden.

Volvo hopes the two vehicles, along with the refreshed XC90 SUV, will help the automaker fuel growth in the U.S. market. In the coming three years, Volvo plans to revamp its entire car lineup by introducing several smaller cars as 40 Series models. Volvo plans to launch the first 40 car in 2017.

"While the new XC90, S90 and V90 have helped us rejuvenate the brand, Volvo’s transformation is far from complete,” said Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo's president and chief executive. "Three years from now, the XC90 will be the oldest car on the showroom floor. In other words, the new 90 series are only the start of the new Volvo."
