AJC Offers Employees Bonuses for Hybrid Cars

NEW YORK – The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is offering its employees across the United States an incentive to purchase or lease fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly vehicles. AJC's Fuel-Efficient Vehicle Bonus Program is believed to be the first offer of its kind to employees of any non-profit organization in the United States.

US Oil Consumption Dropped in 2005; Global Consumption Climbed

CHICAGO, IL – According to BP's recently released Statistical Review of World Energy 2006, consumption of oil in the United States dropped 0.16% in 2005 from the year before, declining slightly from an average of 20.732 million barrels per day (mbpd) to 20.655 mbpd. Global consumption of oil, however, increased 1.3% from 2004 to 2005, climbing from 81.444 mbpd to 82.459 mbpd.

UPS ‘Green Fleet' Passes 100 Million Miles Mark

ATLANTA, GA – UPS' fleet of alternative-fuel trucks has hit a major milestone, traveling more than 100 million miles to deliver packages to homes and businesses. According to a company press release, the total mileage accumulated since 2000 now stands at 108 million miles, or the equivalent of circling the Earth more than 4,337 times or traveling from Earth to Venus four-and-a-half times.
