Executives and workers at Utilimaster Corp. celebrated completion of an initial contract with Ford Motor Co. and the United States Postal Service (USPS). In less than one year, 10,000 new postal trucks have been produced at Utilimaster. At a special ceremony to celebrate the milestone, Jim Bruns, director of the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum in Washington, DC, marked the occasion with a brief postal history lesson and presented an inscribed plaque. “You should be proud,” Bruns said. “One of these trucks will join the museum.” He added that the new flex-fuel vehicle will be used for the next 20-30 years throughout the country.
