Fleet sales to the commercial, daily rental, and government segments increased 9.9% in June from a year ago.

Sales of vehicles to commercial fleets from eight manufacturers increased 7.9% to 73,848 in June as sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs powered an increase of 8.6% to 65,364, while and passenger car sales increased 2.7% to 8,484 units compared to a year ago, according to Automotive Fleet data.

For the year so far, sales to commercial fleets have increased 8.5% to 397,376. Truck-based sales have increased 10% to 347,538, and car sales have fallen 1.2% to 49,838.

Sales to government fleets from four manufacturers increased 9.8% to 28,765. Truck-based sales increased 15.2% to 23,878 and car sales declined 10.8% to 4,887. For the year, government sales have declined 2% to 139,396 with truck sales decreasing 1.4% to 114,556 and car sales falling 4.8% to 24,840.

Daily rental sales from nine manufacturers in June increased 10.9% to 161,991 units. Truck-based sales increased 24.4% to 105,496 units, while car sales declined 7.8% to 56,495 units. Year-to-date sales have increased 8.8% to 1.01 million vehicles with a 10.2% decline in car sales to 394,885 and a 25.8% increase in truck-based sales to 618,927 units.

For all three segments, fleet sales in June increased 9.9% from a year ago to 264,604 units with a 17.5% gain in truck sales to 194,738 and a 6.9% decline in car sales to 69,866.

Year to date, the three fleet segments have increased 7.6% to 1.55 million. While truck-based sales have increased 17% to 1.08 million, car sales have fallen 9.1% to 469,563.
